Smith Reunion

Reunion?, I hate the thought of a reunion! One of mom's cousins was planning a trip to Mississippi from California so a reunion was inevitable. I was not 100% sold on the idea but any excuse to get together with the Messer's is ok with me and Michael. We talked Mom and Dad into going to Saltillo and they enjoyed every minute of the get together. The kids got to swim in between the storms and daddy got to talk to anyone and everyone. He is definitely in his element at these sort of get togethers. Even though this is not moms ideal way to spend her weekends, I know she really enjoyed talking and vising with her relatives. I did not get any pictures at the reunion but I did get some cute pictures of Regan and Katelyn trying on clothes at the mall. They are going to be trouble!

Panama City 2008

On Wednesday July 16 I received a phone call from Erin begging and pleading with me to come to see her in Florida, ok maybe not begging but all she had to do was tell me she had an extra room and I was on my way. Her family was in Panama City because Jonathan was the program director for two sessions of X-Fuge. I decided since Michael could not get off work I'd take my 12 year old niece, Victoria. This was a real treat for her, she had never been to the beach. It started off on Friday at noon with a 7.5 hour drive. By the way portable DVD players are a life saver. Our first stop was Peach Park. This is a place that has been a tradition with my family since I was very young. Victoria loved the home made ice cream and fresh fruit. We arrived at the beach about 8pm, just in time to drop off our bags and get out feet in the sand before it got too dark. I think Vickie was impressed. We spent the next two days hanging out with Erin, Jackson and Jonathan when he was not working. I love any time I get to spend with them. As soon as we got into a routine it was time to head back to Flintstone. Time sure flies when you are at the beach! Thanks Erin and Jonathan for the free room, we loved every minute of it!!

White Water Rafting

What a fun weekend! Scott and Leslie visited us for a white water rafting trip down the Ocoee River. If you did not know us you would think we all live close and hang out together every weekend (what a dream that would be). The weekend started off with a Friday night dinner at MellowMushroom, and a few drinks for the guys. After dinner we headed to NightFall to listen to a local band and inspect the many motorcycles that gather downtown Chattanooga every Friday night. Saturday morning started with a breakfast at Bojangles (Leslie's new favorite breakfast place) and then on to Outland Expeditions for our rafting adventure. It is safe to say that Michael, Kevin and Scott will not get Klondike bars anytime soon. After Kevin realized we did not have to tackle "Snow White" he relaxed and the trip was amazing. Needless to say we are going to try and make this a yearly trip.

My First Blog

Michael and I have been married for 8 years, 8 wonderful years. He is my best friend and just a great man all around. I am very lucky to have him in my life. We are two years into a lengthly adoption process. We have chosen to adopt from the country of China. Even though there is no definite time frame we are hoping by the summer of 2009 we will have a beautiful daughter. In the meantime I'll continue to work on my patience (I have none!) and enjoy the time we get to spend with our families. We have 4 beautiful nieces and 2 great nephews. Michael and I love every moment we get to spend with them!
